if i made my own music AND lyrics, do you think people would respect me more as an artist and would take me more seriously and say “hey, he is true to the game and he is putting his own stuff out.” a lot of people just use computer programs, fruity loops etc., to make their music. i make my own music manually using an MPC 500 and MPC 2500. and i think up my own lyrics to my created music. i very very rarely say anything vulgar or curse. maybe like 3-5% has cursing, but that is it.(stuff like hell, damn, sh*t.) im trying to make music that people can feel and enjoy and hoping to eliminate the fake artists and the “same ol routine” songs like mims and 50 produce.

doesn’t really matter if you’re a skilled rapper
people are gonna be listening to your voice
and when you make it big then you can make your own tracks.

of course u will get respect for tryin and putting ur mind towards something u wanna do. yea yo i dont think the whole MPC thing really matters, if ur good at producing beats then it will show no matter wut u use. same thing for writing, if ur good at it then that will also show. be original and have a unique sound. also, i would recommend tryin NOT to block out artists that u would consider to be mainstream and commercial. the music industry is exactly that – an industry. everyone has to make their money, and its not like 50 or MIMS didnt pay their dues to get to where they are. they truth is, there is good music in the mainstream and good music in the underground. its jus sad to see people choosing only one side to listen to
Yeah, ofcourse, buy you have to have a catchy beat and production, to be honest the key is in the production, you have to lure me in with the beats, in order for me to listen to your lyrics. Thats how alot of songs with crappy lyrics, for example, oh i dont know, “A bay bay” or somethin, become popular, it has a really sick beat & bass to it, but the lyrics r crap, but unfortunately, thats what pple go for. But jus keep doing ya thing with your lyrics, i’m sure u’ll go far.
